Robert Weitzner

Music Adjunct Faculty

Music and Performing Arts Professions

Throughout his career, Rob Weitzner has been obsessively committed to delivering success for inspiring artists, influential labels, and innovative ventures at the nexus of music and technology. This passion for connecting creativity and tech has driven Rob to orchestrate scores of cutting-edge partnerships between DSPs and labels, build new digital distribution channels, deliver millions of songs to market, and generate tens of millions of dollars in revenue. In short, he has successfully navigated each iteration of the industry’s transformation to benefit the artists and organizations he's worked alongside.

After a decade in artist management, eMusic (acquired by Vivendi 2001) recruited Rob as VP of Business Development and GM of its NY Office, where he helped architect the successful launch of the first-ever digital music subscription service in 2000.

Rob then moved to the legendary indie powerhouse TVT Records, steering business development and digital strategy for artists including Nine Inch Nails, Snoop Dogg and Tha Eastsidaz, and Lil Jon. Rob jumped at the opportunity to take on a leadership role in launching trade body A2IM (American Association of Independent Music) as a Founding Executive before moving to digital aggregator IODA (acquired by Sony) as VP, Global Business Development.

Post IODA, Rob’s deep independent sector relationships led him to become Head of Business Development, Strategy & Partnerships for Consolidated Independent (CI), The state51 Music Group’s digital supply chain platform. Over the course of the next decade+, he built the franchise into a marketplace leader, securing partnerships and working with culturally impactful leading Indie organizations including Beggars Group, Secretly Group, Redeye, Sub Pop, Hopeless Records, Kobalt, PIAS, and many more.

In early 2022, Weitzner joined Artist Growth (“AG”) as Executive Vice President to drive the growth of the company's burgeoning product ecosystem including AG’s industry-leading Workspace – a SaaS collaboration platform regularly used by 70% of the major labels in The U.S.

A north star for Rob is education AND educating and mentoring future leaders in the space -- which he fully embraced whilst a member of the full-time Faculty at Drexel University for 8+ years as an Assistant Professor in Drexel’s Top 10 Music Industry Program concurrent with his tenure at CI. Rob is also an active participant in the Music Business Association’s Education and Scholarship Committees.

He earned his BA in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
