Daniel Faronbi

PhD Student

Daniel Faronbi is a Music Technology PhD student in the Music and Audio Research Laboratory (MARL) at New York University. His advisors are Dr. Juan P. Bello and Dr. Leila Adu-Gilmore. His research interests lie in techniques for generating and analysing music and other audio signals. Prior to his work with NYU, Daniel was involved in multiple research projects. He served as a research assistant at the Data and Decisions Sciences at the University of Nebraska focussed on implementation of multidimensional search algorithms for linear programming. He also worked as an Engineering Intern for Bot Image (an AI startup company) using computer vision and machine learning approaches to automate prostate cancer diagnosis from medical images. He holds two bachelor's degrees in Music Technology and Computer Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska.

Daniel is also an active jazz pianist, music producer, and composer. He has performed for music groups spanning a wide variety of genres and has received both jazz and classical training. He has worked as a studio manager for Studio 381 at the University of Nebraska and has published two albums. He has shared the stage with jazz heavy hitters such as Benny Golson, Bobby Sanibria, Micah Bell, and Dave Stryker and maintains an active performance schedule at various venues in New York City.
