Tinia R. Merriweather, Ph.D. completed the doctoral program in Applied Developmental Psychology at Fordham University. Her dissertation research was a validation study of a measure she developed, the Classroom Multicultural Competence Measure, which measures equity of student learning opportunity in classroom processes. Tinia also teaches social justice courses in the Ethics Department of the Ethical Culture Fieldston School and has formerly served as a Middle School Dean and diversity coordinator. With 24 years of classroom experience, she has taught at all levels from elementary through graduate school, but her passion is middle school. Tinia holds a B.A. from Spelman College and two M.A.’s from Fordham University and Teachers College, Columbia University. Tinia aims for scholar-activism in achieving equity and justice in schools.
