Elena Shaddow on the Importance of Passing the Torch

Elena Shaddow got her start on Broadway in Les Miserables when she was in her senior year at Steinhardt. She likes to say she is a Steinhardt success story. In this interview, she shares the importance of passing on the torch, learning from those with experience and why NYU Steinhardt is the place to be for a future career in vocal performance.

We congratulate the NYU Vocal Performance students who competed in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Eastern Region Student Auditions held in Philadelphia March 15-17, 2024. All NYU students made it to the semifinal round with a large number of students earning top honors in their divisions during the finals.

NYU Steinhardt Jazz composer, arranger and pianist Rich Shemaria talks about his work One World Suite, a piece he spent the last six months arranging for symphony orchestra. Along with the Jazz faculty band Combo Nuvo, he plans to take One World Suite on the road this summer and perform in Vienna.
