Music and Performing Arts Professions Facilities

In addition to our multiple departmental performance and rehearsal spaces, we utilize diverse facilities and performance venues in New York City with regular performances at Lincoln Center, Merkin Hall, Tenri Hall, selected Broadway and off-Broadway theatres, and acclaimed jazz clubs.

Music and Auditory Perception and Cognition

Faculty focusing on modeling the complex mental processes involved in the perception and production of music. Our approach integrates theoretical modeling, experimental psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and computation.

Six week NYU Pre-College Courses

The Program in Music Technology is offering a 6-week Pre-College summer program for high school students. Course content includes: music production, recording engineering and electronic music. Taught by industry leaders and working professionals, students will leave with first hand knowledge of the significant role technology plays in creating recorded music.

The MM in Screen Scoring trains you as a future professional in the Screen Scoring Industry, by advanced training in technology, production, orchestration, music preparation, and scoring techniques.

MIDI and DAW Production Studio

This studio course is centered on in-class discussion and demonstration of student works created using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) such as Logic Pro, Sample Libraries, Synthesizers, and Sound Processors. During the class, students and faculty will provide feedback to student projects in order to improve the overall quality of the music production. In addition, there will be presentations and discussion of new releases of sample libraries, audio processors,
and synthesizers, as well as new features from updates on the DAW.

The 128-credit BS in Music Business combines cross-disciplinary coursework in Music Technology courses focused on music production and recording, business, and the arts while providing hands-on experience working in the industry.
