New York and London loom large in the development of children’s literature. In turn, children’s narratives have helped shape popular understandings of both cities. By engaging with children's and YA literature and visiting sites related to childhood and children's literature, students will examine how narratives for young people represent and respond to the dynamisms, tensions, and diverse communities of New York and London. Students will reflect on the ways children’s and young adult literature imagines young people’s relationships with the city.
