Research Description/Bio: 

Canan's primary research interest focuses on how parental factors predict school readiness in disadvantaged populations. She is also concerned about the migrant population and refugee mothers’ parenting experiences. For her M.A. Thesis, she aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of dislocation for Syrian refugee youth and the risk and resilience factors that help them cope with the difficulties of pre- and post-migration factors.

She holds a master’s degree in Child-Adolescent Clinical Psychology from Bilgi University, Applied Developmental Psychology from Ozyegin University, and a BA degree in Psychological Counseling from Boğaziçi University, İstanbul. She volunteered in several intervention programs that integrated arts while working with Syrian refugee children during her studies in in musical theater and accordion at Istanbul University.
