Yael Goverover, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, FACRM is a Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy, where she also serves as Director of Post-Professional Programs. She is a Fellow of both the American Occupational Therapy Association and the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and a member of the American Occupational Therapy Foundation’s Academy of Research.

Dr. Goverover’s clinical and research expertise focuses on cognitive and functional impairments in individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and multiple sclerosis (MS). She is widely recognized for developing innovative performance-based assessments and evidence-based interventions to improve everyday functioning, participation, and quality of life in these populations. She has received numerous competitive grants, including support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS).

Dr. Goverover earned her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy and a master’s degree (magna cum laude) in developmental psychology and educational counseling from Tel Aviv University. She completed her PhD in occupational therapy at New York University and postdoctoral training at the Kessler Foundation’s Neuropsychology and Neuroscience Laboratory. She continues to collaborate as a Visiting Scientist at Kessler Foundation, advancing research on functional cognition and rehabilitation science.
