Mariam Ayvazyan is an adjunct instructor in the Department of Applied Psychology at NYU. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role, having earned her MA in Mental Health Counseling and Wellness from NYU's Steinhardt program, alongside an MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business. 

Over the course of her career, Mariam has been a clinician, researcher, educator, executive coach, and consultant, working across various settings. Clinically, she has supported numerous individuals in navigating mental health challenges, fostering self-awareness, honing coping strategies, and uncovering inner resilience. Mariam is trained and certified as an IFS (Internal Family System) psychotherapist and as an EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) practitioner through EMDRIA, demonstrating her commitment to evidence-based therapeutic practices. 

In her capacity as an executive coach, Mariam capitalizes on her business acumen and profound insight into organizational dynamics to empower leaders and teams to reach their full potential. Through the application of evidence-based coaching techniques, she empowers individuals to refine their leadership abilities, surmount obstacles, and cultivate a high-performance mindset. Her targeted interventions assist executives in sharpening their communication, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.

Her research endeavors have centered on diverse populations, including those with substance use issues, particularly opioid use, sexual and gender minorities, individuals in high-risk contexts, those with high rates of involvement in the criminal justice system, runaway/homeless youth, and people of color hailing from low socioeconomic backgrounds living with HIV.

Presently, Mariam serves as the Founder of Achel Therapy, a platform where she not only imparts her wisdom but also trains and employs future clinicians.

Her dedication to guiding both students and the broader community towards greater understanding and well-being is evident in her comprehensive and diverse contributions to the field.
