Erika Abarca Millán

Erika Abarca Millán (she/her/ella) is a Senior Research Associate with the Policy, Research and Evaluation (PRE) team at the NYU Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, she has addressed issues regarding equitable access to higher education, teacher and student identity, second/heritage language acquisition/education, among others. She has worked as a project manager for both small- and large-scale studies, including her work as a project manager for a regional study conducted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). She has an MA in Applied Second Language Acquisition from Carnegie Mellon University (2014) and a PhD in Education from the University of Pittsburgh (2020). She is originally from Santiago, Chile.
