Crystal Lucas-Perry is a Tony Award®–nominated Broadway actress, producer, educator, licensed creative arts therapist (LCAT-P), and Registered Drama Therapist (RDT). She earned her M.A. in Drama Therapy from the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University (NYU) and her M.F.A. in Graduate Acting from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She received her B.F.A. in Theatre Performance from Western Michigan University and is completing her Doctorate in Educational Theatre (Ed.D.) at NYU Steinhardt, where her research explores performer wellness, sustainability, and creative resilience within educational and professional arts contexts.
Ms. Lucas-Perry is the 2025 recipient of the Bezalel Award for Creativity in the Arts, presented by T.Lab Global, and has been honored with the Dorian Award, Lucille Lortel Award, and Audelco and Antonyo Award nominations, among others. Her Broadway credits include 1776 (as John Adams) and Ain’t No Mo’ (Tony Award® nomination), with additional performances across New York City’s leading institutions including Lincoln Center Theater, The Public Theater, Roundabout Theatre Company, and several others.
Crystal holds national accreditation from the North American Drama Therapy Association (NADTA) as a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT) and is a practicing psychotherapist and drama therapist in the State of New York. She brings over twelve years of teaching experience and extensive organizational collaborations with Lincoln Center Education, Harlem Children’s Zone, Epic Theatre Ensemble, and Hunts Point Alliance for Children, among others.
At NYU, Crystal Lucas-Perry teaches Acting Fundamentals MPAET-UE 1050, bringing her depth of experience as a performer and educator to inspire students in the exploration of craft, imagination, and embodied storytelling. Her teaching, research, and artistry are united by a commitment to representation, artistic rigor, and the transformative power of performance.
