A native of Queens, New York, Christina Lee is pursuing a PhD in music theory at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her dissertation, provisionally entitled “A Model for Hindemith Analysis,” explores methods for analyzing cadence, melody, and harmony in Hindemith’s piano sonatas. Her research interests include Schenkerian analysis and its intersection with other methodologies, the music of Paul Hindemith, and, more generally, analytical techniques for post-tonal diatonic music.
Christina received her BM and MM in both theory and piano performance from Mannes College of Music. She has studied theory with Carl Schachter, Robert Cuckson, and Joseph Straus, among others, and piano with Yuri Kim. In addition to teaching music theory at NYU Steinhardt, Christina has taught an assortment of theory, aural, and keyboard skills courses at Montclair State University, Hunter College, Mannes College, and the Juilliard School.
