We strive to create an environment modeled after the real-life experiences of our artist-faculty. Curricular opportunities include private instruction, technique and repertoire classes, chamber and orchestral ensembles, the NYU Broadway Orchestra, Baroque Ensemble, Contemporary Ensemble, and more. With half of the degree credits available as elective study, you can tailor your curriculum toward your specific interests, musical goals, and career objectives in areas such as pedagogy, music technology, film scoring, composition, songwriting, performing arts administration, and music business.
The Master of Music degree in String Studies at NYU Steinhardt offers you professional training geared towards your career goals, encouraging you to develop your own individual musical voice and expression. You'll have intensive rehearsal and performance opportunities, both on and off campus, through our chamber ensembles and orchestras and through interaction with our Film Scoring, Music Technology, and Music Business programs.
