Develop your collaborative skills in this unique master of music concentration. You'll focus on all aspects of collaboration, from working with singers and Artist Faculty in lessons and repertoire classes to overseeing all aspects of a musical theatre production. Your mentors  in Vocal Performance and Piano Studies, who continue to make their careers on and off Broadway, will provide you the tools and techniques to achieve the industry standards. You'll learn their craft and gain from their expertise.

How You'll Learn

Core Courses, Performance Study, and Elective Classes
The 39-point program of study includes private lessons and coursework in music research, history, and literature. While refining your technique, you'll focus on collaborative repertoire, with coursework focusing on diction, vocal pedagogy and production. For those with an interest in musical theatre, repertoire classes and the opportunity to study music direction are offered. Two degree recitals are required, reflecting your areas of specialization.

Study Closely with Renowned Performance Professionals
You’ll work closely with our renowned artist faculty. Our Faculty in Piano Studies and Vocal Performance features professionals engaged in opera and Broadway productions in New York who concertize at venues including Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall and are regularly featured at major festivals in the United States and abroad. You will concentrate on honing your skills at the keyboard in private lessons, performance classes, guest master classes, and workshops. 

Performance Opportunities 
As a graduate student in this concentration, your appearances will include not only degree recitals but also musical theatre and opera productions, student and faculty voice recitals, showcase concerts, Artist Master Classes, and regular appearances at on-campus venues.
