To best meet the needs of our students, we have decided to suspend enrollment in the on-campus dual Master of Arts in School Counseling and Advanced Certificate in LGBT Health, Education, and Social Services. We encourage you to explore our online MA in School Counseling and Bilingual School Counseling, on-campus Post-Master's Advanced Certificate in LGBT Health, Education, and Social Services, or on-campus dual Master of Arts in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness and Post-Master’s Advanced Certificate in LGBT Health, Education, and Social Services.

In this dual-degree program, you will get the education and clinical training to become a professional K-12 school counselor, working in public and private schools, colleges, and community agencies. Graduates are eligible for New York State certification as guidance counselors, and are prepared to take the examination to become a national certified counselor. You will gain a deeper understanding of the issues affecting the LGBT population and develop the skills to address them. You may also choose to concentration on bilingual school populations.

This program is accredited by the Master’s in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council (MPCAC) for 2015 through 2025. Graduates of this program meet the academic requirements for licensure in the state of New York. Each state sets their own policies, regulations, and standards for licensure. If you intend to pursue licensure in a state other than New York, you should consult our Licensure page for more information on whether our program meets the academic requirements for licensure in that state and whether there is additional coursework you may need to complete to meet that state’s requirements. Non-dual-degree program options are also available for the MA with an optional concentration in bilingual school counseling, and the post-master's advanced certificate
