Kesia Constantine is a licensed counseling psychologist who practices primarily young adult and adult individual and couples psychotherapy. Her practice is integrative, reflecting her early clinical background in psychodynamically oriented-psychotherapy and human development, and her later trainings in several cognitive-behavioral interventions and mindfulness-based therapies. Her clinical practice focuses on helping individuals address issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal relationships, difficult life transitions, body image struggles, as well as managing the psychological ramifications of physical health issues. She approaches both her clinical work and her clinical supervision from a holistic and multiculturally grounded stance. She received her doctorate from New York University in the Counseling Psychology Program in 2006. Prior to coming to Steinhardt she has worked at the New York Harbor Healthcare System, Brooklyn Campus with veterans, New York University’s Counseling and Wellness Services, and completed the NYU-Bellevue Psychology Internship Program. She currently maintains a private practice in New York City. She is committed to advancing the field of clinical practice and training.

Courses

Interpretation and Use of Tests in Counseling Adults

Introduction to formal assessment. Includes surveys of vocational personality, and aptitude tests and structured experience in administration and scoring. The synthesis of various tests with background and behavioral information is stressed, as are interviewing techniques necessary for introducing and interpreting test batteries to clients. Source of clients to be tested is highly desirable.

Lab in Individual Counseling Skills

Students participate in small group laboratory experiences utilizing simulation, modeling, micro-counseling, and related foundational counseling skills in an experiential learning base. Learning of basic communicating skills necessary in interviewing, counseling, and other helping relationships. Skills learned apply to a wide range of professional counseling with children, adolescents and adults.
