Step into a world of grief, glitter, glamour, and glorious transformation. Inspired by The Wiz, the soulful reimagining of The Wizard of Oz, THE WIZZIE is a bold, futuristic, heart-expanding theatrical experience created by extraordinary New York City high school students of color and friends. Together, these brilliant young artists have deconstructed the classic tale and rebuilt it through their own stories, dreams, losses, joys, and visions for liberation.

Blending theatre, movement, music, media, storytelling, and explosive creativity, THE WIZZIE transports audiences into a dazzling universe where young people confront systems, survival, grief, friendship, and self-discovery with humor, honesty, and style.

Developed through NYU’s Collideoscope Repertory Theatre Company (CRTC), this groundbreaking community-based process invites BIPOC youth to create art that matters in a supportive, trauma-aware + grief informed environment guided by drama therapists, drama/art therapy interns, educational theatre teaching artists, and production mentors. Rooted in racial justice, healing, and collective creativity, CRTC advances performance as a pathway toward transformation and belonging.
