Join the IE program in welcoming Amy Goodman, award-winning journalist and host of Democracy Now!, for an urgent and inspiring conversation on the role of independent media in a time of disinformation, censorship, and corporate control.

Drawing from her new documentary Steal This Story, Please, Goodman explores how fearless and independent  journalism—and the free speech and academic freedom that sustains it—can challenge systems of power, amplify marginalized voices, and defend the public’s right to know.

Through stories from the frontlines of reporting and activism, Goodman's lecture titled, Steal This Story, Please: Independent Media, Free Speech, and the Courage to Question Power, will make the case that free speech and critical inquiry are not luxuries, but essential tools of democracy. This talk invites students, scholars, and citizens alike to ask the tough questions, hold truth to power, and become storytellers for justice in their own communities.
