What was something you especially value from your time at NYU Steinhardt? Was there a course or professor or particular challenge that sticks with you?
I believe that Capstone, Approaches/Qualitative Inquiry, and EDPLY-GE - 2030 (EDSP) have had a significant impact on me. On one hand, these courses provided me with a detailed understanding of the correlation between education and social policy, as well as valuable experience in academic research and data analysis. Throughout these courses, I encountered various challenges, including collecting large datasets, transitioning between different types of academic research methodologies, and delving into the intricacies of social policies across different regions of the United States. I believe that the skills and knowledge gained from these experiences will be crucial in my future endeavors.
How did you end up in your current role?
I transitioned into my current role through a combination of academic preparation, professional experience, and networking opportunities. My background in Education and Social Policy from New York University provided me with a strong foundation in understanding educational systems and policies. Additionally, my skills in research and data analysis allowed me to identify correlations between policies and their impact on students and school districts, seeking better solutions. Networking played a significant role as well, connecting me with professionals who provided insights and guidance on job opportunities. Through these efforts, I successfully landed my role.

With my background in Education and Social Policy, I've found networking to be essential for advancing in the field. Leveraging platforms like LinkedIn has been invaluable for expanding my network and engaging in meaningful conversations with others in the field. I've also found informational interviews to be incredibly helpful for gaining insights and building relationships with experienced professionals. By actively participating in these networking opportunities and maintaining genuine connections, I've been able to grow and succeed in the education and social policy sector. Actively participating in school events and communicating with advisors and professors has also been instrumental in understanding the current academic research and opportunities within our field. Furthermore, I believe that participating in educational events hosted by organizations such as the United Nations or non-profit organizations can broaden our perspectives and expand our professional network.
