Research Description/Bio:
Stephany E. Ramirez is a doctoral student in the Sociology of Education program at NYU Steinhardt. Her research examines colleges and universities as organizations, focusing on how institutional practices and norms evolve amid changing legal and market environments and how organizational structures and actors advance or constrain equity.
Stephany brings more than 10 years of experience across enrollment management, marketing and communications, and education policy. She currently serves as Assistant Director of Marketing in Global Enrollment Management and Strategic Communications (GEMSS) at NYU, where she leads marketing for the university's pipeline programs, transfer students, and strategic university-wide initiatives connecting prospective students and families to college pathways and expanding access to the knowledge and resources needed to navigate higher education.
Prior to joining NYU, Stephany managed an award-winning College Success Program supporting first-generation students, building partnerships with companies, higher education institutions, and community organizations across the United States to help first-gen students graduate on time and enter their careers prepared. She also led enrollment across multiple schools and markets for a nationally recognized K-12 public charter school network in New York City, enrolling over 35,000 students.
Stephany holds an M.Ed. in Enrollment Management and Policy from the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California and a B.A. in Psychology from the State University of New York at Old Westbury. Recognized for her professional contributions and impact, she received the Latin Impact Award for her work in the New York City community.
When she's not in academia, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, and getting lost in a good book.
