Featured Opportunity: Summer Study Abroad in Lund, Sweden
The Communicative Sciences and Disorders Summer Study Abroad Program in Sweden offers master's-level students and practicing professional clinicians a unique opportunity to earn graduate credits over approximately two weeks while immersing themselves in Lund, Sweden.
Sweden is globally recognized for its state-of-the-art approaches to communication sciences and disorders. In partnership with the Logopedics, Phoniatrics and Audiology Unit within the Department of Clinical Sciences at Lund University’s medical school, this course is led by an NYU faculty member and combines specialized lectures, directed enrichment activities, and direct access to Lund University researchers and faculty. Participants explore course content through a cross-cultural lens and through hands-on activities, such as visits to cutting-edge research labs and companies developing new technologies to support communication. Beyond the classroom, students will travel together to historic, cultural, and educational sites across Scandinavia, with opportunities to interact with local Swedish students.
Practicing professional clinicians may opt to record and report the graduate credits earned in this program as continuing education units for certification and/or licensure maintenance.
The Study Abroad Student Experience
I was able to make a lot of professional connections and network with potential future employers. I learned a lot about potential areas I could work in as an SLP that I hadn't considered before the program, and I thoroughly enjoyed the lectures from the guests we had. My favorite was an MD who did VF injections. I was also able to meet several Swedish students in the program! It is a great opportunity to network with other professionals in your field, meet other students going through the program in a different country, and get new perspectives from them.

The time I spent in Ghana was deeply enriching. Not only did I learn about the field of CSD both in healthcare and education, but I saw how both systems are so embedded in the country’s history. I learned about Ghana’s culture from our insightful guides, who were eager to answer any questions we had, and through the delicious food that we had every day.
