Undergraduates enrolled in other majors and schools at NYU are welcome to minor in Food Studies. This 16-credit minor provides you with a basic understanding of the cultural and sociological aspects of food production and consumption. If you wish to declare a minor in Food Studies, you must meet with an academic advisor to enroll in restricted courses and discuss course selection.

What You'll Learn

The 16-credit minor in Food Studies explores the cultural and sociological aspects of food production and consumption, preparing you to explore the food system as it relates to politics, policy, and identity. In addition to foundational courses in food and food issues and food science, students can also choose electives in areas like food history, photography, management, and systems.
