Name: Jayson "J.D." Miller, They/Them
Hometown: Bay Area, California
BA institution and degree: BA Social Work, San Francisco State University. Dual BA Sociology and Women's & Gender Studies from CUNY Brooklyn
MA institution and degree: MA in Social Work, Columbia University
Research Interests: I am interested in furthering research to increase accessible, affirming and intersectional mental health services for LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults. The long-term goal of my research is to use these findings to influence larger policy change in the wake of anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation taking place across the United States which has been restricting or at times criminalizing these life-saving supports.
Career Goals: I am hoping to pursue a PhD to continue and expand the work I am currently doing in my full-time job as founder and director of the Identity & Acceptance Program; and use the knowledge gained to include policy change long-term for increasing access to affirming mental health services for the LGBTQIA+ community.
