This master of arts program will train you for a career in teaching Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish in local or international settings. You will study language acquisition and pedagogy and gain valuable classroom experience through student teaching placements in New York City schools.
This program leads to eligibility for New York State initial teaching certification for grades 7–12 in your world language. During your course of study, you must complete one semester of fieldwork and two semesters of supervised student teaching at NYU-affiliated New York City schools.
A non-teaching certification degree and a degree offering dual certification with TESOL are also available.
