Sarah Lamparski, President

Sarah Lamparski - President

Hello! My name is Sarah Lamparski; I am thrilled to be serving as Steinhardt's GSO President this academic year. I served as the Treasurer for GSO last year and I am excited to begin my second year on the e-board. I am a second-year, full-time Master’s student in Steinhardt’s Higher Education and Student Affairs program. I currently work at NYU’s Center for Student Life as a Graduate Assistant for Transfer and Commuter Programs. I am a Chicago native and yes, deep-dish pizza is the best! I attended Roosevelt University in Chicago and obtained my Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science. I love getting to work closely with the students at NYU and want to continue to do so for the Steinhardt community through my role as President. My goal is to continue to be an advocate for the entire Steinhardt graduate student community and better connect our students to NYU.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Presides at and coordinates the agenda for the Board and Council meetings
  • Represents the GSO at various meetings, including the Student Government Assembly and President Council meetings
  • Oversees all GSO-related matters and delegates assignments to Board members
Eric Gutgarts, Vice President

Hello! My Name is Eric; I am a second-year student in the Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness program. I am a mental health counseling intern and currently work as a Crisis Counselor with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline among other crisis lines. I used to work as a high school teacher: Teaching English, History, and Psychology courses. I also volunteer as a Research Assistant at NYU Steinhardt and Teachers College, Columbia University.. Currently, I’m serving as Vice President of the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) and President of the Steinhardt Counseling Association (SCA) E-Board (online). My clinical interests include marriage and family therapy, sports psychology, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and multicultural counseling. I hope to become a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) after completing all requirements for clinical licensure. In my free time, I enjoy watching basketball, traveling, and networking with mental health professionals. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to advocating for NYU’s graduate student body!

  • Serves as the liaison between club representatives
  • Conducts elections and executive board appointment processes
  • Represents the GSO on the Faculty Affairs Council

Hi! My name is Matt; I am originally from San Diego, CA and I hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance from San Jose State University. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Higher Education Student Affairs at NYU. My internship is a part-time position in the Center for Student Life, directly overseeing graduate student life. I am excited to support my fellow Steinhardt peers as GSO's treasurer.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plans the budget for the year
  • Tracks and updates the Board on the budget
  • Works with department representatives, executive board members, and Competitive Professional Development Reimbursement Fund winners on fund reimbursement
Jermaine Graham, Senator

Jermaine Graham - Senator

Office Hours: Mondays, 3pm - 4pm

Hi! My name is Jermaine; I will be serving as your Graduate Student Government Senator for the 2019-2020 academic year. I am a second-year student in the Higher Education and Student Affairs program working in the Steinhardt Office of Student Affairs. Before arriving at NYU I worked as an Education Advisor for an Upward Bound program, helping students from low-income and first-generation families gain access to higher education. I am excited to be your Senator this year and sincerely hope you will reach out to me if you have any questions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Represents the GSO at University Senate/Student Senators Council (SSC), School Senate, and University Committee on Student Life (UCSL)
  • Reports to the Board and Council members at the regular meetings the current issues of concern before the NYU Senate, School Senate, and the UCSL
  • Simultaneously is a member of the School Senate and coordinates the activities of all graduate student representatives to the School Senate

Hi! My Name is Jasmine; I am a second-year graduate student in the Sociology of Education program and I am delighted to serve as the GSO Secretary for 2019-2020 academic year! I am a full-time student and I currently work for NYU College of Dentistry in the Student Affairs office. I graduated from The City College of New York majoring in Political Science in 2017. I enjoy working with my fellow peers to promote and sustain a diverse and inclusive community at NYU. I absolutely love traveling, trying new foods, and exploring new places. My guilty pleasure would be any vegan treats or desserts, I also love sports! I look forward to making NYU Grad school a memorable experience for you.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Keeps minutes at all board and council meetings
  • Records attendance and tallies votes during board and council meetings
  • May attend school standing committee meetings or represent GSO at other events/meetings

Hi everyone! My name is Emily and I am so excited to be serving Steinhardt GSO as one of the Publicity Chairs. I am a second-year Master's student in the Higher Education and Student Affairs program. I also work in the Center for Student Life as a Graduate Assistant for Media and Communications. I am originally from San Jose, California and completed my Bachelor's degree at the University of Portland in Organizational Communications. In my free time you can find me listening to my favorite podcasts, hanging out with friends, or exploring the city! I am so excited to join this amazing team and am looking forward to a great year!

Madison Lee Coe, Publicity Chair

Hi! My name is Madison. I have been immersing myself in the NYU community, professionally and academically. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Theatre, with a double minor in Dramatic Literature and Social Entrepreneurship. Currently, I am working within Steinhardt as the Costume Shop Technician and as a candidate for an MA in Educational Leadership, Politics, and Advocacy program. Madison is excited to join GSO as the Co-Publicity Chair and looks forward to diving deeper into the Steinhardt community.

Hi1 My name is Nicole; I am a part-time Education Leadership Policy Advocacy (ELPA) student and Founder & Creative Director of Javanna Productions M.O.V.E. As Founder of an arts and education non-profit organization, I have provided young people with the resources needed to address social issues creatively via after school programs, summer intensive and school assemblies. I have also worked as a consultant for the Department of Education and has worked for the De Blasio Administration as a Community Coordinator for the Department of Health and the Community Affairs Unit.

Hi! My name is Tyla; I am a 1st-year graduate student in the Educational, Leadership, Politics, and Advocacy masters program at Steinhardt. I have a passion for educational equity and policy. I was born and raised in Crown Heights, Brooklyn where I also currently reside. Some of my favorite hobbies are swimming, volunteering and traveling. I am excited to represent the Steinhardt student body as the Co-Events Coordinator for the Graduate Student Organization!
