Sarah Brill

Sarah Brill is a second year Master of Arts degree candidate in the department of Media, Culture, and Communication at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. This year, Sarah will be returning to the board of GSO as President where last year she served as the Publicity Chair. Sarah is also acting as President for NYU's first Jewish Graduate Student Club, where she fosters a positive community of like-minded Jewish students through Shabbat dinners and outings. Sarah is proud of both her Indian, Jewish, and German heritage and she is passionate about her community and education. Hailing from Jersey City, NJ, Sarah considers herself the best judge of a good bagel. Sarah looks forward to serving the Steinhardt graduate community by fostering an inclusive and light-hearted atmosphere on campus. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Presides at and coordinates the agenda for the Board and Council meetings
  • Represents the GSO at various meetings, including the Student Government Assembly and President Council meetings
  • Oversees all GSO-related matters and delegates assignments to Board members
  • Serves as the liaison between club representatives
  • Conducts elections and executive board appointment processes
  • Represents the GSO on the Faculty Affairs Council
Isabelle Kern

Isabelle is a first-year graduate student pursuing a Master's Degree in Music Therapy. She grew up in Germany and moved to New York City in 2017, where she double-majored in Music and Psychology at NYU. Being German, Filipino, and American, it is important to Isabelle to foster an inclusive experience for the diverse NYU community and ensure that all student voices are heard. As Treasurer, Isabelle is committed to assisting the GSO in planning fantastic events and initiatives for the graduate students at NYU Steinhardt.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plans the budget for the year
  • Tracks and updates the Board on the budget
  • Works with department representatives, executive board members, and Competitive Professional Development Reimbursement Fund winners on fund reimbursement
Pritha Mukherji

Pritha Mukherji - Senator

Pritha is a first-year incoming graduate student pursuing a Masters degree in Media, Culture and Communication. Born and raised in Mumbai, India, she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Media, Information and Technoculture at Western University, from which she graduated on the Dean’s Honor List. As senator of GSO, she looks forward to bringing forth a student-first approach through an intersectional lens and creating a meaningful impact on the NYU community.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Represents the GSO at University Senate/Student Senators Council (SSC), School Senate, and Student Government Assembly
  • Reports to the Board and Council members at the regular meetings the current issues of concern before the NYU Senate, School Senate, and the SGA
  • Simultaneously is a member of the School Senate and coordinates the activities of all graduate student representatives to the School Senate
Ari Lin

Ari is a first-year graduate student with a passion for Educational Leadership, Politics, and Advocacy, embarking on her journey towards a Master's Degree. Hailing from Taiwan, she brings a fresh perspective to the vibrant landscape of New York. In her role as secretary at GSO, Ari is enthusiastic about contributing to the planning and execution of a diverse range of events, all aimed at enhancing the NYU Steinhardt experience.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Keeps minutes at all board and council meetings
  • Records attendance and tallies votes during board and council meetings
  • May attend school standing committee meetings or represent GSO at other events/meetings
Miranda Rivera-Flaviá

Miranda Rivera-Flaviá - Publicity Chair

Miranda is a Masters degree candidate in the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication at NYU. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, her research centers on decolonization in Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Puerto Rican urban music scene. Aside from her work in MCC, Miranda served as Senator of the Steinhardt Graduate Student Organization in 2022-2023 and is now returning to the board as Publicity Chair. Miranda is also a certified Pilates instructor currently teaching at East River Pilates and NYU Campus Recreation. In her free time, Miranda enjoys taking other Pilates classes, reading Latin American classics, and going to concerts.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a liaison between media outlets, the GSO constituency, and the GSO Executive Board.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date university-wide events and happenings within the newsletter and, where applicable, on social media.
  • Foster an inclusive environment online through the newsletter and social media platforms.
Yilia Qu

Yilia Qu - Event Coordinator

Yilia Qu is a first-year master’s student in Media, Culture, and Communication program. After spending four years in a predominantly white suburb in Massachusetts for undergraduate studies, she is excited to return to a crowded but diverse urban setting. She is looking forward to meeting new friends to explore the city and commenting on all sorts of media productions together.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and develop events for the NYU Steinhardt graduate community.  
  • Develop and/or maintain collaborative relationships with, but not limited to, NYU Steinhardt, Clubs, various vendors, and event space coordinators to create and host events on behalf of GSO.
  • Determine and facilitate logistics for all Executive Board events with the support of the entire Executive Board.
Chelsea Ogunmowo

Chelsea Ogunmowo - Event Coordinator

Chelsea Ogunmowo is a first-year graduate student with a strong dedication to education. She is receiving her Master’s Degree in Teaching. In undergrad, she studied Education and Sociology at UC Berkeley. Her passion for equity in education is the driving force behind her pursuing her master’s degree from Steinhardt. Her involvement in student affairs has always been a top priority for her to ensure the inclusion of each and every student. As the event planner, she is eager to find was to bring students of all backgrounds together to make everyone’s time at NYU Steinhardt memorable and impactful!
