Principles and methods of evaluation, goal development, and intervention in pediatric practice in occupational therapy. Factors that influence pediatric practice and selected frames of reference will be discussed. Assessment and intervention methods will be demonstrated, applied, and discussed in laboratory sessions.

In this course, students explore various pediatric genetic conditions, such as inborn errors of metabolism, where nutrition intervention is an important component of treatment management.

Students learn to apply medical nutrition therapy to a variety of pediatric conditions with an emphasis on current research. Students explore the components of healthy diets for infants, children and adolescents and learn how to assess growth and development using growth charts.

This course addresses prominent theories and fundamental issues in the fields of speech perception, spoken word recognition, and speech production. The primary focus will be on accounts of unimpaired cognitive processing involved in the production and perception of single words and phrases, and we will consider a range of interdisciplinary perspectives.

Instrumental Performance juries assess each student’s growth in instrumental techniques including intonation, rhythm, tone production, articulation, dynamics, and musicality. Juries take place at a designated time at the end of the semester and are evaluated by each student’s program director and any additional invited faculty. Jury repertoire is selected in conversation with each student’s private teacher, and
each student studies their jury repertoire in their private lessons.
