MPATC-UE 9321 Aural Skills II: Tonal Harmony & Voice Leading 1 Credit
Techniques of music listening developed through musical sight-singing,
dictation, and aural analysis. Topics are coordinated with the co-requisite
course, Theory & Practice II: Tonal Harmony & Voice Leading. This course
builds on skills developed in Aural Skills I. Students learn techniques for
critically listening to, analyzing, and notating four-part diatonic harmony
and basic chromatic harmony including secondary functions and modulation,
advanced rhythm and meter, chromatic melodies, and instrumentation.
CSCD-UE 1211 Autism, Language, and Communication 4 Credits
The objective of this course is to develop a broad understanding of language and
communication in autism. We discuss the history of scientific understanding of autism, current evidence, the neurodiversity movement, and cover a range of current ideas in theory and practice. We learn about the characteristics of autistic language and communication at multiple levels of linguistic analysis. We learn from a variety of perspectives, including those of autistic individuals, speech-language therapists and other clinicians, and friends and family members.

MPASS-GE 2113 Baroque Dance for Musicians 1 Credit
This course will provide musicians with an opportunity to physically embody music through the form of Baroque dance. Basic Baroque dance steps, phrases & ornamentations, will be learned & examined through the historic relationship between the two art forms of music & dance. An exploration of the Beauchamp-Feuillet notation system will then be applied to their own reconstructions & their performances throughout the semester.

APSTA-GE 2085 Basic Statistics 3 Credits
This introductory course prepares students to use statistics for data analysis. The course makes use of statistical computer software to achieve hands-on experience with data. This course covers methods for displaying and describing data as well as statistical inference. Topics include frequency distributions and their graphical representations, percentiles, measures of central tendency and dispersion, hypothesis tests, analysis of variance, correlation, and simple regression.

APSTA-GE 2123 Bayesian Inference 2 Credits
This is a course in intermediate and advanced foundations of statistical inference in the context of applied research and covers Bayesian workflow, conjugate models, MCMC, prediction and model evaluation, Bayesian estimation of GLMs, and introduction to hierarchical/multilevel models. Through this course, students gain an understanding of mathematical theory, implement related statistical algorithms in R and Stan, and interpret models and parameters in the context of applied statistical analysis of real data. Prior exposure to probability and statistics required.
