Teaching Foreign Language: Theory and Practice

Foundational course that explores the connections among research, theory, and practice in teaching second/foreign languages. Students explore guiding principles and methodology in approaches to the teaching of language; how additional and foreign languages are learned, taught, and assessed in different contexts; and theories and practices related to teaching reading, writing, speaking, listening, and grammar in a meaning-based, communicative, and contextual framework. Students develop skills in motivation, teacher-student interaction, and classroom management.
