Seminar in Counseling Theory and Research

Examination of selected theories of psychotherapy including the metatheory of counseling/psychotherapy with a focus on the evidence base for practice and within the context of the counseling psychology program commitment to psychotherapy integration.The metatheory of counseling/psychotherapy is a vocational perspective on psychotherapy practice. Attention is paid to the ways in which culture/race/gender/social justice issues intersect with clinical practice. Development of students' own personal theoretical orientations to practice is central to the course.
