Develops an understanding of the nature of sculpture and the critical dialogue that surrounds it. Assignments explore the conceptual and formal properties of sculpture, and an individual approach is encouraged. Evaluation of current gallery exhibitions and assigned readings will be an important supplement to studio assignments. Students will have regular access to the sculpture shop, where available equipment includes wood and metal tools, as well as plaster and mold-making facilities.
