Music Editing for Screen Music

Musical, aesthetic, and technical processes of assembling and shaping a film's soundtrack in collaboration with the filmmaker and composer. Collaborative projects encompassing film score recording sessions, an understanding of the music editor's position, responsibilities, and techniques in the post-production process of a film.

Methodology

The course has synchronous weekly meetings to present material, to workshop techniques, and to discuss and critique student work.

There is a mandatory laboratory in which students engage in all the aspects of preparing for a recording session: preparing and checking the materials, creating the ProTools Sessions and the click tracks, producing efficient take notes, and assisting the composer during the recording.
