Advanced Chinese for Teachers of Chinese I

This course addresses issues unique to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign or second language. Students learn to develop standards-based thematic units for the Chinese classroom and Chinese-specific strategies for engaging students with varying learning needs, comprehension and production, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). Attention will be paid to understanding the cultural context of teaching and program models. Part I focuses on classical Chinese.
