Research interests include Classical-period form, history of music theory, North Indian instrumental music, Balinese music, and jazz. Presentations of research at meetings of the Society for Ethnomusicology and the New England Conference of Music Theorists, and at the International Conference on Analytical Approaches to World Music.
Recipient of the Charlotte Elizabeth Procter Honorific Fellowship from the Princeton University Graduate School. Performed with Cecil Taylor and Anthony Braxton.
