Karthik Gunnia is a licensed clinical psychologist and the new Director of Clinical Training in NYU's Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology program. He received his BS in cognitive science from UCLA and Doctorate in Psychology from George Washington University. He completed his predoctoral internship at NYU-Bellevue Hospital and postdoctoral training from UCSF.

Dr. Gunnia has 10 years of experience teaching at the graduate level and supervising graduate students in counseling, with specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. In addition to providing supervision at the CCCW, he teaches courses in supervision, psychopathology, research methods, and a course he created called "Mind Playing Tricks on Me: Mental Health in Contemporary Music." His research and clinical interests include: destigmatizing mental health challenges, improving treatment outcomes, and improving counselor training methods.
