Teaching and Learning

Anthony Wheeler (he/him) is a Research Associate with the Computing Integrated Teacher Education (CITE) Initiative at the City University of New York (CUNY), where he manages CITE's efforts to support research and professional learning among CUNY faculty on their journey to meaningfully integrate computational and digital literacies into their standard practice and course/program learning goals. Currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Urban Education at the CUNY Graduate Center, Anthony also serves as a faculty member of Computer Science Education within NYU Steinhardt's Department of Teaching & Learning, teaching the required course sequence for the Computer Science Education minor.

His dissertation research focuses on integrating Digital Humanities (DH) theory and practice into teacher education. This work aims to explore the existing correlations between DH and K-12 computing, identify pathways for co-constructing teacher candidates' computational and digital literacy in tandem with their disciplinary knowledge, and equip them with the skills to leverage these literacies both creatively and effectively in promoting equitable learning experiences and reducing the tech equity gap.
