Alyson Sheehan is an administrative professional with over six years of experience in the non-profit music sector. She served as an administrative assistant at the Bloomingdale School of Music and a contract administrator for the American Federation of Musicians, enforcing the terms of various collective bargaining agreements and protecting the rights of recording musicians across the United States and Canada. Before joining the NYU Songwriting team, she was a Senior Associate of the Metropolitan Opera Guild education department, bringing in-school music education to students across New Jersey and all five boroughs of New York City.
Alyson’s writing has been published multiple times in International Musician Magazine and she has presented lectures at the Metropolitan Opera HD festival and on the Met Opera Guild podcast. She has played significant roles in the production of prestigious music events, among them the annual Opera News Awards, the Metropolitan Opera Guild Annual Luncheon, and the American Federation of Musicians’ International Convention.
Alyson earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from The Hartt School of Music Dance and Theatre. She has performed in various operatic roles, concert performances, and classes, including at the Manhattan Opera Studio, the Hartford Opera Theater, Mexico’s Artescenica Encuentro Festival, and the Bel Canto Institute in Florence, Italy.
Her passions lie in the intersection of music, advocacy, and education.
