Charles Raffaele

Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr. Charles Raffaele is a research scientist in the CREATE lab. He completed his PhD in educational psychology at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. His research is focused on digital technologies for learning (e.g., games, apps, multimedia), including particularly for second language learning. He has served as a reviewer for the Journal of Interactive Technology and Pedagogy, and presented at the annual conference of the American Educational Research Association. He has published journal articles and chapters on game-based learning, parents' decisions for their children's digital media use, writing implementation in psychology instruction, and fostering self-regulated learning during remote instruction. He was awarded as co-PI a grant to study second language learning with an LLM-based avatar.
