Elsa Nunez is a Resource Specialist with the New York State Statewide Language Regional
Bilingual Education Resource Network (NYS RBERN). Elsa Nunez is an educator with over 32
years of experience with the NYC Department of Education. During her time with the NYC
Department of Education, she served as a bilingual teacher, ESL teacher, District Director of
Bilingual Programs, Assistant Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent.
Throughout her career, she has had a passion for developing and supporting programs that
provide equitable access to rigorous curricula and instructional practices aimed at improving
academic outcomes for multilingual learners. She continues to support teachers and coach
building leaders on effective pedagogical and leadership practices that promote academic
success and linguistic diversity for all students, including multilingual learners.
