Occupational Therapy

Christine Sproat MA, OTR/L is Adjunct Faculty in The Department of Occupational Therapy and teaches Level I Fieldwork Pediatric Simulation. Christine received a teaching fellowship and graduated from the Post Professional Master’s Program in 2001. Christine completed her undergraduate degree in occupational therapy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1997. She is the director and owner of Canyon Kids, occupational therapy, in Bethesda, MD. Additionally, she coordinates an adaptive outdoor adventure program for neurodiverse individuals.

 Christine has extensive clinical experience working with children and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities. Her areas of expertise include Sensory Integration, NDT, Praxis, Social Participation, Self Regulation and Executive Functioning, Handwriting and Visual Perceptual Motor Skills. Christine has created community programs and groups. She provides workshops and strategies to local schools on the importance of movement and outdoor play in sensory motor development and regulation. She frequently consults with families, educators, therapists, psychologists and pediatricians on the application of occupational therapy. 

Her current interests are in the treatment of anxiety through sensory motor and cognitive behavioral methods during the COVID 19 Pandemic. She enjoys teaching and mentoring OT students.
