Research Associate

Clare Flack is a Research Associate at the Research Alliance for New York City Schools, where she plays  a key role in studies focused on Career and Technical Education.

Dr. Flack’s previous work includes qualitative research drawing on semi-structured interviews and document analysis, as well as work developing and validating survey instruments and analyzing survey data. She contributed to a qualitative study of Common Core implementation in intermediary organizations across New York City, funded by the Spencer Foundation in 2018. Her dissertation examined the instructional guidance infrastructures at two school networks in NYC. As a graduate student, Dr. Flack contributed to the Research Alliance’s Middle School Teacher Turnover project and  worked on a mixed methods study of a teacher inquiry program in NYC’s Renewal High Schools.

Dr. Flack earned her PhD in Sociology and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She also holds a BA in Sociology and an MAT from the Urban Education Program at the University of Chicago.
