Erin Embry

Communicative Sciences and Disorders
Erin Embry is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist with a dual degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Health Policy and Management. Her approach to teaching and leadership promotes interdisciplinary collaboration at all levels of academic, clinical and professional training. She serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Operations within the Steinhardt School and holds an appointment in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders.
Embry's central skillset for leadership and teaching revolves around improving the fundamental building blocks for success, from conceptualization to implementation to evaluation. She teaches courses related to the comprehensive clinical process, swallowing disorders and professional issues. Embry is actively involved in department and school-wide curriculum development with a focus on cultivating collaborative efforts of various disciplines in the educational and healthcare settings. Most recently, she adapted and expanded her skills to include enhanced educational technology, learning management systems and virtual interprofessional educational opportunities for students.
With over 20 years of combined professional experience in healthcare and higher education, Embry has devoted her clinical and academic career to adults with acquired brain injuries and progressive neurological diseases. She has worked in major hospitals and rehabilitation institutes, in addition to private, corporate and legal settings.
