As a Social Development Consultant, Karina provides on-site and remote consultation services to support and empower SLPs in their implementation of neurodiversity-affirming therapy, integration of clinical goals into the classroom setting, and collaborative practices as members of multidisciplinary teams. Additionally, she provides guidance and support for the implementation of Social Development Intervention, Nest's unique approach to providing speech therapy. Karina draws from her previous practice as a therapist at a middle school in the Lower East Side. She has a unique lens for social communication and advocacy, as well as a strong interest in the cultural layers of social communication.
Karina is a licensed speech-language pathologist and Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Cognitive Science, concentration in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Delaware. She minored in Disabilities Studies and Women’s Studies. She earned her Master’s degree from Lehman College in the Bronx. She is fluent in Portuguese & English, and conversant in Spanish.
