Sophia Bolt is a PhD candidate in NYU Steinhardt's Sociology of Education program. Her dissertation research focuses on anti-racist education and the development of white students' critical consciousness. She has worked on the CSS team as their graduate assistant since the summer of 2016. Working on the CSS team while studying educational inequity in her doctoral classes has been an invaluable experience; seeing theory put to practice has underscored the importance and challenges of the work. She is excited to continue serving the team as they work to foster anti-racist practices and policies in education spaces and beyond, confronting the impact of race, power, and privilege in the work folx do.
