Instructional Support Specialist

Katie provides on-site and remote consultation services to support and empower educators to establish inclusive and equitable classrooms that cultivate self-determination, engagement, and belonging. She also designs and delivers professional development to practitioners to deepen their understanding and build their capacity to cultivate inclusive spaces reflective of the intersectional needs of their students. She teaches graduate level courses on the social model of disability, understanding the sensory system and supporting regulation, implementing neurodiversity-affirming and proactive supports, and understanding and supporting challenging situations.

Katie was an elementary school teacher in New York City schools for 10 years and has also worked with students and their families in the capacity as an in-home behavior therapist. She has researched teacher efficacy as well as parent's co-regulatory interactions with their autistic children and has a continued interest in how to improve the experiences of neurodivergent students in the classroom and beyond!
