Sheri Sanders

Music Adjunct Faculty

Music and Performing Arts Professions

In 2004, Sheri Sanders noticed that the radio was changing the climate of musical theatre and created Rock The Audition, a masterclass in auditioning for Rock Musicals. The class became a hit in NYC and Sheri immediately became the world's preeminent popular music repertoire coach. In 2011 she was the first author to publish a book on the new relationship between popular music and musical theatre (Hal Leonard books).

This book, Rock The Audition: How to Prepare for and Get Cast in Musicals, brought her book to 73 musical theatre programs in eight years providing students, their teachers and coaches the skills to successfully research, prepare, and perform all styles of popular music currently represented on Broadway.

Three years ago, Sheri took her book and turned it into an interactive online Rock Musical Theatre Training Program. This makes it possible for individual professional performers and coaches, entire Musical Theatre programs, and now teens-to study directly with Sheri from every corner of the world. Sanders' performance techniques have brought her students not only to the Broadway stage, touring companies, and regional productions of Hamilton, Mean Girls, Jagged Little Pill, Beetlejuice, Spongebob, The Great Comet...Waitress, Kinky Boots, School of Rock, The Spring Awakening Revival, Motown, Sting's The Last Ship, Jersey Boys, Diner, Spiderman, Memphis, Rock of Ages, Sister Act, Mamma Mia, American Idiot, Wicked, Rent, Hairspray, Legally Blonde and Regina Spektor's Beauty ( to name a few), but also to television shows: Jesus Christ Superstar LIVE, The Wiz LIVE, Rocky Horror, Grease LIVE, and Hairspray LIVE, The Voice, Empire, The X Factor, American Idol, Glee, and The Glee Project. Sheri professionally arranges audition cuts on and they can now be found on her website.
