Unplugged Ensemble

Exposes students and audiences alike to a wide variety of music within contemporary and popular music genres in a purely acoustic or minimally amplified context. Students collaborate in selecting, shaping, rehearsing, performing, and recording songs as soloists and as an ensemble.

Who Can Join

Sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate level vocalists are all eligible to audition. Priority is given to Vocal Performance majors.

Credit

This ensemble must be taken for 1 credit. 

Audition Information

Please use this FORM to submit your video audition for NYU Unplugged Vocal Ensemble no later than 11:59pm, Friday, January 10, 2025. No exceptions. You must be logged into your NYU google account for access. The video submission should be of you singing ONE song, LIVE, in any popular music genre of your choosing (no classical, musical theatre or jazz, please). Video performances and recordings must be from within one month of the submission deadline. Your performance can be either a-capella or with acoustic accompaniment, only, and should be unedited. Audition videos will be reviewed, and ensemble spots offered after callbacks. Those interested should submit ASAP. Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 during class time.

Rehearsal/Class Information

This ensemble meets from 4:55-6:35pm on Tuesdays in the Steinhardt Education Building, Room 779.
