Research Description/Bio:
Canan's main research interest centers on how school readiness is predicted by parental factors in disadvantaged populations. She is also concerned about migrant population and refugee mothers’ parenting experiences. For her M.A. Thesis, she wanted to have a better understanding of the meaning of dislocation for Syrian refugee youth and the risk and resilience factors that help them cope with difficulties of pre- and post migration factors.
She holds a master’s degree in Child-Adolescent Clinical Psychology from Bilgi University, Applied Developmental Psychology from Ozyegin University and BA degree in Psychological Counseling from Boğaziçi University, İstanbul. She volunteered in several intervention programs that integrated arts while working with Syrian refugee children, during her studies in in musical theater and accordion in Istanbul University.
