Research Description/Bio:
Juliana Borbón is a PhD student in Psychology and Social Intervention at NYU Steinhardt. Her research examines parenting, caregiving practices, and family well-being in contexts of adversity, with a focus on reducing violence against children and promoting child development. Drawing on both qualitative and quantitative methods, she seeks to bridge developmental science and public policy by generating actionable knowledge and scalable interventions that strengthen families, advance equity, and contribute to violence prevention in low and middle-income countries. Before coming to NYU, she completed a degree in Government and Public Affairs at Universidad de los Andes in Colombia. She has worked across government, education, academia, and nonprofit sectors, gaining experience as a rural teacher, coordinating large-scale evaluation projects, and leading the design and implementation of Apapacho, a program to prevent violence against children.
