Research Description/Bio:
Before attending NYU, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During my time at Madison, I was a research assistant in the Infant Learning Lab. There I discovered my research interest in early language development by working on several projects that examined how children's early home environments shape their language development. At NYU, I hope to use methods such as eye tracking and home recordings to examine how older siblings may play a crucial role in their younger siblings' language development. By using these methods, I plan to examine the types of linguistic input older siblings provide, the types of activities siblings engage in that scaffold language development, and whether older siblings help maintain or create social contingency amongst their younger siblings and caregivers.
